Biz Prof Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 This is a refin project I completed a couple of years ago. I bought this Fusion Deluxe new in '91 and used it as my #1 for about one year. It sat in its chainsaw case untouched for 20 years until I got an inch to do a body and headstock using rattle can ColorShift green/purple. While I had it stripped, I moved the volume pot to a more Hameresque location. It all turned out quite well and after some TLC on the setup (I didn't know diddly about maintenance and repairs back in the 90s), it actually plays better than I recall. The pickups are just so-so; they work relatively well with a load of gain, but lack punch and bite when low-gain all-tube set up. I wish Jackson hadn't used those wide 'buckers as I'd want to fashion a custom bezel if I did a swap. Overall, the quality of the construction is very, very good. Note the old school logo...micro-thin vinyl with several coats of nitro on top. Sure, it's a San Dimas style instead of the proper pointy headstock version, but anything is better than that God-awful toothpaste logo!
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Nice!I'd be tempted to glue on an extra 3 frets for the high B and E strings, tho...The cheesier the better.
