Ted Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I have a thirty year old Classical Guitar. It has amazingly stayed together besides not always having the best environment to live in. The Guitar does not have a gloss coat. The finish is matte. The top is cedar. The back and sides look to be laminated cherry. What would be safe to clean it with, and to condition it with? Thanks in advance, Ted
Ted Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 It's very light oil that doesn't get gummy and isn't acidic like lemon-oil furniture polish; wood loves it. If you use it (or any oil) on fretboards, use it very sparingly; if you use too much on fretboards it can cause your frets to lift. Thanks GtrDaddy. Mitch also recommends using very little of anything on the Guitar besides a gentle rubbing with a damp cloth--And, to make sure I wash my hands before playing!!!
