FS: 96' USA MIRAGE II MAPLE TOP-KOOL BLUE!!

Well, since I have two of these and one of my resolutions for 06' is to play what guitars I have more and leave less sitting in cases...this beauty is hopefully going to find a good home with an HFC'er. The "Kool Blue" finish on this one is more of a vibrant blue in person but under the right light, it also looks like a dark teal color (my other 96' Mirage II maple top is more a true teal color than this one). The maple top on this one is AMAZINING in person...very 3-D flamey when you look at it (one of the best flame maple tops I've seen on any guitar!), but the top is actually a slightly darker blue in person. ZERO fretware (I mean none, not even minor 'dimples'). Even the rosewood on the board feels new (hasn't been smoothed down at all like they get from many hours of playing). The flaws are as shown...a ding in the clear but no finish removed on the upper side of the neck; what looks like 4 tiny chips in the clear only that kind of make up a circle (shown in the picture that also shows the minor scratch in the clear); and the one that I can't figure out...it looks like the previous owner tried "enlarging" the upper 3 slots on the nut (maybe in an attempt to convert it to "lefty"?). It doesn't affect the playability of the guitar (I've tried .009's and .010's with no buzz or other adversities), but it bothered me because of the condition of the guitar otherwise. Other than maybe a couple small impressions in the clear or a few pick swirls in the clear, this thing is cosmetically great. Hardware is in nice shape (I have a bar for the trem, but I don't thinks it's an original one...close though). Hameritis is extremely minor...a small spot on the lower edge of the maple top and a little on the edge of the board...very minor though (wouldn't even photograph). I took off the rear control plate to show that the electronics are what came stock, but I did take the pickups out once and put them back in (tried Phat Cats in this guitar but they sounded too bright in this guitar, great in my Special FM so the 59'/JB went back in this one). I'd say the neck is medium profile, maybe even a little on the slender side of medium. Not as stout as my other 96' Mirage II maple top's neck, but a lot fuller than the 92' Special I used to have. Comes with a SKB hardshell case in great shape. I've sold guitars to a couple HFC'ers here in the past and have over 100 all positive feedbacks on ebay, so feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have about this guitar.

Price-$825 shipped/insured in lower 48 CONUS (if using Paypal), knock off $25 from the total if paying with USPS money order (even $800). I'd rather keep calculating cost simple for myself and stick to US HFC'ers, but I will consider selling to an oversees HFC memeber before selling on ebay, so e-mail me if interested and we can figure out what the total price would be. Not interested in trades at the moment but a mint/near mint condition USA Duotone 3-hole/USA Duotone Custom in something other than natural or 59-burst might tempt me enough to consider it B)

Since I'd rather sell this guitar here than go off to ebay with it, price REDUCED to $700 US shipped/insured to an HFC member with a Continental US shipping address and paying with a USPS money order. If using Paypal, tack on the 3% fee ($721), but since this is $100+ lower than I originally posted, this is as low as it gets folks (so please no lower offers). CONUS HFC'ers only this time around. I know I've sold things on this forum through US HFC'ers who I sent the items to and they in turned shipped it out to oversees HFC'ers, so I'm open to doing that again if we can get all parties involved to agree. This thing has hardly been played and if it wasn't for the knucklehead who screwed up the cosmetics of the nut, it would be an easy 9.5 or better out of 10. If it doesn't sell here by the beginning of the weekend, it's off to ebay for higher $$ to cover all the ebay fees. Give a good guitar a good home for the New Year B)

Is it a heavy guitar?

All I have to guage it by is a crappy bathroom scale, but it's somewhere between 8 - 8 1/2 lbs (that's as accurate as I can get for you, sorry). Certainly not a boat anchor, but at the same time you won't mistake it for being a feather light 7/8 scale alder bodied guitar either. It is heavier in the body than neck, but balances pretty well when wearing it on a good guitar strap.
