bpalmer Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Wanted to share with my fellow HFC'rs my newest "bundle" of joy!!! Was thought to be a '96 but the S.N. shows 2 as the first digit, so it's a '92. It looks like a Transparent Red here in the pic, but it's really more a Burgandy color. Sweet none the less.
bpalmer Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 I guess this was when Hamer was in a "Transparent finish" faze......I had a Diablo and Centaura both around these Early '90's years and they both were Transparent colors also. My late '80's Hamers were solid colors.
atquinn Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Cool! One that looked similar to that sold on eBay a little while back (I think it had a solid red finish though). I have a Cali Elite with the same pickups. I like the JB in the bridge quite a bit, but the neck pickup is a bit too bright and weak. At some point I'll probably replace it with some sort of real single coil, that's more powerful, but right now I'm using it for downtuned riffing, so it's not really a concern . -Austin
bpalmer Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 Yeah, just got this off of EBay...it was said to be a '96 but was even happier when it turned out to be a '92 (growing up in Chicago..I just lean towards Hamers of that time period).I too thought it was Red by the pics...but it's VERY CHERRY Transparent..almost a Burgandy with cool streaks of wood.I've had JB's in other guitars also...and not really a big fan of the JB pickup, not sure why (although I love Beck's music) it seems occasionally (to me) to cutting and harsh and not as smooth as I like, I may change it...just don't know with what yet. Maybe put a Tom Anderson of some sort in it, or maybe a DiMarzio...like a Super 3. I've got a couple Jackson PC1's that have those stock in them and they are pretty good. (again for me).
Nuclear Wessel Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Congrats! Californians are fantastic guitars. From what I remember reading the seller's listing for that guitar, that one is in almost new condition too. That's a great score!
