P-90 Special w/ push-pull??

I’ve got a 1995 Hamer Special with P-90s in TV Yellow. When I bought this particular Special I discovered it had a push-pull on the tone knob. Again, that’s odd. What’s especially weird is that since P-90s are a form of single-coil, I figure this can’t be any kind of generic coil-split. Best I can describe it limits the high end and gives a cocked-wah sort of tone. Anyone have a guess on exactly what the heck that is?

Sounds like an in/out phase switch. My daily player is H-S and the middle position is hardwired out of phase to get precisely that cocked wah pseudo-Octavia funkaliciousness.
