holLoWskull Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Well, I got 0 bids on it on ebay so I figured it was a sign that I should keep the guitar and be thankful I didn't have to deal with seller's remorse. However, the Mrs. did remind me that one of my goals this year was to bring the "heard" down to my "Top 10" guitars (got a ways to go, but you have to start somewhere) so I'll offer it to the HFC for less money than it'll be listed for on ebay if it doesn't move over the weekend here. Heres the expired ebay link for all the long winded specifics. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=7397166804 I've made a few changes to the guitar since I had it for sale on ebay (thinking it would suit me better if I kept it or would help it sell faster as the case may be now). First...EMG's are gone. It now has a SD APS II neck pickup and a SD Custom Custom Trembucker in the bridge position. I set it up last night for standard 'E' tuning and put some new DR black beauties .009's on it. (intonation was done on a strobe tuner and trem is set nice and level) Also, when I was setting the intonation on the G string, I thought I could almost feel the baseplate hole start to strip a little (it didn't thankfully, but I didn't want to take any chances and put on a newer Schaller trem I had lying around with the hardened baseplate inserts). The guitar plays great, no buzzes or anything. I guess maybe I made the guitar's description sound worse than it really is in the ebay ad only because I didn't want anyone complaining that they felt they got screwed (I had one jackass do that to me on ebay, but that's another story). Anyway, in a nutshell: Original Hamer hard case...cosmetics: 6.5 out of 10 outside; inside still pretty nice, latches work perfectly Neck: 7.5 out of 10 (4 dings worth mentioning, biggest about 1/2" elliptical shape) on back of neck. Fretwear is present on frets 1-3 but not really too bad compared to other guitars I've played, just more wear than a guitar that sat in it's case all it's life would have (this is not that guitar BTW). Crowns on frets are still good and no problems with action height at all. Binding has yellowed a bit Body: 8.5 out of 10 (overall clean body, couple small dings on the back and the one decent sized one on the forearm area of the face (see ebay pix). Not as bad looking in person as the pix show, but it's there). Hardware: 9.5 out of 10 (one of the neck p/u adjustment screws got a little bent somehow??? still works fine but makes the p/u rock back and forth a little when raising or lowering the p/u height) Otherwise everything is great (I replaced the neck plate with a nicer one I had lying around...no tarnish on this one) Electronics: 9.5 out of 10 or better! I probably should have mentioned that in the ebay ad too that I put new electronics in the guitar. Oh well, the 3-way is a new Switchraft, same with the output jack. Put a new CTS 500K volume pot in there too. Overall: Very Good condition IMHO Heres a couple pictures I took this morning...they look more like what the guitar normally does in natural light. The guitar normally looks like a black or dark navy blue color but under direct or bright light, you really see the blue metalflake. The pix on ebay all had a flash and it made the guitar seem more blue than what you normally see and it made the paint touch up on the body look hideous! Trust me, in normal light it does not look that bad. For the HFC, I'll drop the price to $675 shipped/insured FedEx ground anywhere in the Continental US if paying with USPS money order, cash or personal check from established HFC'ers. If you want to pick it up in person or meet me within an hours distance from Albany, NY...$650 cash will take it home with you. If using Paypal, add 3% to the $675 total. I'll make this guitar available to oversees HFC'ers as well (unlike on the ebay auction...never know who's legit and who's a scammer on ebay). For you guys we'll have to get a total price but essentially it'll be $650 US + any and all fees, duties, etc. + any Paypal fees. I'll probably ship USPS overseas from zip code 12205 if that helps you get an idea of cost. Any questions, feel free to PM me here or e-mail me. Thanks.
holLoWskull Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 *bump* + I think I might as well sell my mid-90's Slammer Series Centaura 5-string bass too. 5-string, black hardware, purple/blue metalflake paint. Looks almost new. This is Korean bass but really is a good bass for the money. Excellent ++ shape, virtually no wear as I bought it NOS and have hardly played it. Currently strung with DR high beams with hardly any time on them. Comes with tweed covered hardshell case in excellent ++ condition as well. $225 shipped in CONUS. Paypal OK on this one, I'll eat the 3% on a low-buck item like this. Good bass for someone looking for a fairly cheap 5-string that is light and extremely well balanced to gig with or for a beginner (better than a lot of the Chinese stuff out there in this price range). I'll throw in the Planet Waves strap I have for it too if buyer wants it. Oh yeah, the Cali is still for sale...come on guys, is $675 to your door that unreasonable a price for an elite with a reverse headstock and neck binding?
holLoWskull Posted March 23, 2006 Author Posted March 23, 2006 Those white pickups are sexy. They are indeed! The Cali is SOLD pending payment. Still can't believe how a reverse headstock w/binding elite was such a tough sell considering standard Calis are going for almost the same money I was asking The Centaura 5-string bass is still for sale for any HFC'er who is brave enough to play out with a purple metalflake reverse headstock bass
holLoWskull Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 Cali is officially sold (it'll be living over in Europe soon) The Centaura bass is still very much for sale and I will probably be creating a new FS thread tomorrow on it with more pictures.
