crunchee Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I have a '84 Blitz bass in Candy Apple Red, that a previous owner attempted to 'touch up' with fingernail polish. It looks like the polish was used to cover up patches of missing paint, and it was worn down to the wood in those areas. I don't mind honest relicing or missing paint, but the fingernail polish looks downright fugly. Does anybody know of a way to remove the fingernail polish, short of sanding or taking off more original paint? Thanks in advance!

crunchee Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Thanks Greg, much appreciated! I plan to be careful and avoid removing any original paint--just the fingernail polish, but thought I'd ask anyway--will acetone remove the original paint too, or just make the paint blistered and/or gooey? I've seen what a old vinyl strap will do to a nitro finish (I'm sure you have too), it isn't a good thing, it 'un-cures' the finish.
BCR Greg Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Acetone will remove just about ANY paint. Dab and spin, dab and spin.
