HSB0531 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Here's a video I found of Martin Turner & Wishbone Ash. Video is poor, but you get to see and hear Hamer #0001. Pickups are from a Gibson Thunderbird. Finish is black metalflake (as told by Martin). Headstock shape is different (wider). Dots Bound headstock & body. Fender P-Bass tuners (closer to center down the headstock). Hamer logo above the E and A tuners. Link:
marcnorth Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Here's the reply I go from him back in 2005. And a link to his website.http://www.wishboneash.co.uk/default.aspxI was wondering if you still have the Hamer Explorer bass that was made for you back in the 1970's, I think the serial # was 001, and if you have any plans to tour the US. Thanks, Marcus Northcutt Hi Marcus, Yes I have the bass, yes it is S/N 0001. It needs adjusting to get it more compitable with the T'Bird so I can switch between the two. It does sound very juicy though. I do not know about the USA as yet, we need to get out and do this UK tour in February and see where it takes us from there. Best wishes Martin Turner (19 Dec 2005)
HSB0531 Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 I saw that yeah.Apparently he still uses it.Based on the sound of it with the T-bird pups (Lorelei live video),I would have one made with them.
gorch Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 What I spotted at first was that the strings are lead straight up to the tuners. There's no angle whatsover. I love this and believe it improves tuning stability.
