2001 Gibson Gothic Explorer $650

I've tried bonding with this guitar but the pickups are just so freakin' hot. I considered swapping them but then I nabbed that green FM Special this moring off Ebay so something needs to go.

2001 Gibson Gothic Explorer. Neck feels more 50s profile than 60s: not HUGE but chunky. I feel like you're rolling the dice when you get a Gibson as far as quality, but this one was well made. The neck is super-straight with a teensy bit of relief, neither E will slide off the edge. Frets above the 14th could stand a bit of filing at the ends, but no buzz with .011s and low action. No separation of fretboard from neck, no glue drool. Selector switch stays in place, controls are smooth and silent, pickguard doesn't warp, output jack doesn't crackle. The moon-and-star inlay is neat and not stuck in with filler.

It balances GREAT even with a nylon strap, and is very resonant: you can feel the whole thing vibrate. It is LOUD, with those hot ceramic pickups and resonant mahogany body. All in all a nice-playing guitar and none more black. It has a chip into the wood on the top of the body, which I have photographed. It also has several shallow scratches and little nicks that are harder to see and photograph. The back has some odd semicircular scratches. None of these will buff out, but given that it's a semi-dull black all over, these scratches either vanish or are glaringly obvious depending on angle of light. It is SUPER clean, no corrosion, and even little things like the pickup adjusters are clean and smooth. I replaced the original strap buttons with black Schallers, and a strap is inluded.

Comes in OHSC with warranty card, lock combination card, and truss rod wrench. $650 plus prob'ly $35 to ship in the continental US. No trades at this point!
