That one has a cool Keef/'70s Tele Custom vibe.
I usually don't like those, but dig that one a lot.

It’s a great book, and has significant Hamer content/connections (truth).
Bob and Jeff did a fantastic job, and it’s a really cool story.

It depends on the year too - Hamer didn’t always use the “HAMER” branded pots.

I loved my Blue/Green flip flop one (it replaced a black one I bought new in ‘97). The only reason I got rid of it was to get my Newport 12.

We opened for them several years ago - they were pretty decent guys.

They did a run of those in ‘87 - not sure if it was for a specific dealer or if they just built them. All had ebony boards and bound tops, and I believe they all shipped with OBL pickups like yours. They came in Candy Apple Red, Black, Midnight Blue Metallic and White with black binding. There may have been some other variations, and there were several done in each color, but somebody would have to check the logbooks for a more accurate count.

Definitely gone now, but I did get one last week for $79.99 (regularly $129.99). It is maybe nicer than the MONO Bass Sleeves I’ve been using. I need it for a weird shaped bass that’s a little wider than my usual basses. Not my pictures, but it’s the same model gigbag and a similar bass.

That is almost identical to my favorite Esquire (that I still own), which was an All-Musikraft build too, just finished by Stike. Sounds like a similar neck carve as well. I built it in memory of my dearly departed 1961 Esquire, which was the finest Tele style guitar I’ve ever played.
Somebody is gonna love this one!

As of July,2017, JAM Industries, the second post-FMIC owner of the name, essentially ran the company into the ground by losing the ability to make Standards and Vectors. What a worthless bunch those clowns were!
The company that currently owns the Hamer name has apparently put it on ice, having shelved the name a few years ago and ceased production of all instruments.

No. Not true.
You may be confusing your recollection with neck twists that happened in some of the Tom Holmes bound and crowned Sunbursts in the ‘70s.

That’s just a “Special”.
The “FM Special” didn’t appear until the mid/late 1990s!
The difference is that the 80s Specials have a paper-thin one piece curly maple veneer top, whereas the Special FM has a thick bookmatched flametop.
Well, plus the earlier version weee string-thrus with Sustainblocks v stop/tunomatic.

He bought that last fall at a used gear shop nearby that I frequent (same place I found Joe Perry’s black Standard #0150 for $499, a $200 1981 Special, a $600 flamey ‘91 Sunburst w/Floyd). I saw it there, and it was THRASHED and came with a battered Epiphone case. It was $1,299 + tax.

I’m not sure, but that one if either 2 or 3 of the 3-hole Duotones that exist in the world.
