Question

Posted

I have a few questions for the group experts.

1. Can anyone tell me how many of the FBIV 4 string basses were built in total?

2. What year(s) were they made?

3. Ball park on what one of those is worth today or any links to recent sales to show approximate value?  Specifically one that is fully functional, no structural damage, all electronics work as they did when new, all original pick ups, tuners, bridge etc.   Minor scratching and chips from normal use over the years. Something that would rate overall like a 7 out of 10.

Thanks,

Chris

I'd be curious about knowing the numbers as well, even to the nearest five or ten, and potentially how many are left.

When I got mine, there was a bit of disinformation circling about how many Nikki Sixx had, with his scant disregard for the model, gotten through in the late 80s - I think he smashed one to bits at the Moscow show, there were others, too.

These are pretty rare.  Hamer built those between '85-'87 (as catalog models), so not surprisingly, most that you'll encounter tend to be from '86.  They're tough to find and when they do pop up, they tend to vanish quickly.

A beat up one without the case might sell for $3k these days, and some of the very few I've seen for sale in the last few years have been $5k or more.
