Selling my late brother's two basses after much deliberation and a long time in storage.

Disclaimer:
Many of you are aware of this bass and its story, but I'll lay it all out here from the beginning.

It is also listed on TGP (the price below is TGP price (hint hint), and much of what you will see/read is taken directly from that ad.

This '76 Fender P-Bass was purchased brand new by my big brother, Joey, back in 1976 from Manny's on 48th Street in NYC.
It being commonplace at the time, he "upgraded" the pickups to whatever EMG offered for the P-Bass back then, as well a BADASS II bass bridge.

He used this bass and his BC Rich Eagle bass exclusively until his band split and he stopped gigging in around 1988.

These are the only two basses he ever owned.

They rarely saw the light of day again until his passing in 2012 and have been in my care since. I don't play bass so not much has changed.

Several years ago, i sent the P-Bass off to NTL to have it professionally refretted (the small stock Fender frets were worn and had to go) along with a new nut and the original bridge and pickups returned to duty.

The EMGs and BADASS II bridge are included. Whether you want them or not.

Getting new frets and bone nut...

This bass is in great condition and plays beautifully.

The original case shows a little more "character."

Don't worry, the stickers are included.

$2,500 for local pickup (I'll meet you somewhere halfway if possible).
$2,600 shipped to the lower 48 US.

BONUS MATERIAL:

Here is the P-bass in action on stage at CBGB's, January 2nd, 1983.
The mosh pit was busy that day, my friends, but no instruments were harmed in the making of these photos.

The more observant of you may have spotted the DiMarzio pickups and the BADASS II bridge.

Bump with corrections made to the original post.

The pickups were EMGs (which are included, along with the pots) even though there are photos of the bass with creme DiMarzios in it.

Bump to remind everyone that I will provide a discount (in the hundreds) for my HFC brethren.

Yes, there are "guitar weight conscience" bass player BAMFs out there, too.
I didn't think it was a thing, but it is in fact a thing.

I always thought that bass players were a bit tougher. More durable.
They would just expect a bass to be a little bit heavy, wouldn't they?

It's a fucking bass, after all.

Anyway, some BAMF emails me via craigslist and wants to know "the exact weight of the instrument."

@MCChris joked that asking for "the exact weight" of anything is akin to my favorite Covid offspring, advertisers boasting that their product will be "delivered straight to your door," (as opposed to your shed or the neighbor's house, for example).
He mocked the BAMF further: "Give me an incorrect weight please."

So I'll play along.  I weighed it.  It's 9 lbs 2 oz.
Not bad for a Fender bass, especially from the mid '70s, so I emailed the guy.

Now he wants to lowball me $1000.

Yeah, sure BAMF.  GTFO.

Kizanski,

it’s Kilroy.  I am back after too many years and I want your brother’s bass.  It would be an honor and privilege to own it and play it.

Could we discuss via email or mobile phone?

thanks Kilroy

SOLD to our returning champion from Reno, Nevada!

It's bittersweet knowing that this bass will be leaving my family (I hope my brother understands) but after the long conversation I had with @kilroy, I'm comforted that it will remain in the HFC family and it will be cared for, and played, and played often.
