Saul Goodman Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I was 15 or so, George was in college majoring in music. I don't remember how long I took lessons from him but it was fairly brief. But, we became friends. He and some of his friends from college would invite me along to some gigs and some concerts they helped roadie back in the '70s. I remember Resurrection Band was one. Don't recall the others. So I took him to lunch. He was amazed how much I remembered from that period. Like the time he plugged his little Yamaha amp into a plug in a Winn Dixie parking lot where they were setting up to play. Zapped his amp instantly and there was no gig that night. There were so many other things we talked about I think the waitress was getting annoyed we were taking up her table so long. It was a great reunion and trip down memory lane. I can't believe after 48 years we somehow reconnected. He had quite an influence on me as a 15 year-old boy and I've thought about him many times over the years. He turned 75 yesterday. Any of you have a similar story? George and his wife, Renee. 9 Quote

Spinaltap Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Great story, my 1st guitar teacher passed a few years back. in my 30s i purchased a customized thinline tele from his shop, he remembered me, and 10 years after that stopping in for a set up, he let me know the original owned wanted the thinline back, would I sell it. No way... my 2nd guitar teacher had pointed me to the thinline tele, and I see him every few months to swap stories. He wants the thinline too.. 3 Quote
