Cheap Trick Takes Time Off From Touring

Ultimate Classic Rock posted the Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, the following statement last night where the band had been scheduled to play in February.

“Mama said there'd be days like this. Cheap Trick's scheduled performance at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort has been cancelled,” the venue announced via Facebook. The post included the following official statement from the band:

“After many years of touring, and a much-needed break, Cheap Trick has decided to take an unspecified amount of time off, therefore this event has unfortunately been canceled. The good news is that no action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, once funds are received from the Event Organizer, which is usually completed within 30 Days.”

Separately, Thunder by the Bay Music & Motors Festival confirmed Cheap Trick had canceled their scheduled performance for February 2027. "While we are has announced they will be taking an “unspecified amount of time off” from touring.  Disappointed by this unexpected news, we respect the band's decision and wish them all the best," the festival said in part.

Personally, I'm glad they finally decided to take a break.  These guys still tour 125+ gigs including private events annually in their 70's.

No word on the remaining 2026 shows however I would not be surprised if they cancel a few of those as well.

The Farewell Tour of Japan marked an end of an era and so does this. While I highly recommend retirement, I don't want to see Robin Zanders version anytime soon.

All the Best to Rick, Robin, Tom, Bun E., Daxx, & RTZ, their touring management, staff, and road crew.

Rick is likely wanting to play until he drops dead on stage, but either the band or his family will not let him do it.
