chewie37 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Just picked up an '87 set neck Chaparral that's in pretty good shape for its age, but it needs a couple of things. Looks like the guitar bounced around in the case during shippping and it tanked the high E string tuner. So I'm looking for at least one of those in black that has "Hamer" stamped on the back. Also, the guitar has been rewired from the original config (cutting out the mini-toggles from the circuit) and the volume pot has been replaced with a push-pull type. I'd like to return to the original setup, but need a correct value volume pot.If anyone has either/both of the above, let me know! Thanks,Mike
chewie37 Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 That would be the one. The so-called "crack" by the locknut is really just a deep finish ding that goes down to the wood, so that's a bonus that it's not really a structural problem.Looks like the re-wiring job has not only disconnected the toggles, but the single coils look to be out of the loop too. I think the push-pull/volume is now flipping between humbucking and split coils on the bridge pickup. Kind of like the last toggle originally did I think.
Jason01 Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I'd be glad to help if I had the parts but my chaps just had the same high E tuner broken in shipping like yours has. To make matters worse its left handed so the tuners are even harder to find. Anyone got chrome lefty mini hamer schallers out there in HFCland? As far as the volume pot goes it should be just a standard pot that you could find at stew mac or wherever? I had to rewire a friends Chap and those minis are a pain in the ass to solder.
