blackfbiv Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 the volume pots are getting scratchy in the FB... so much so that I don't like to use it.If I were Carol Kaye, I'd just junk it and buy a new bass, but since I'm not, I'd like to get the ink blot back up to snuff.Should the pots inside it be stamped 'Hamer'? or with some kinda value? They currently aren't, and I'm wondering if I didn't have them replaced when the frets were done back in '93... What value should they be?I'll try some contact cleaner first of course, and I promise to not go near it with anything resembling a soldering iron.Dion
Craig Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Try the cleaner first, if they are really shot, replace them. I forget what Hamer uses, I want to say 250's?
Tres Aardvarks Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 if the pots are shot, the whole bass is scrap. I'll take it off your hands for cheap!! You can spray contact cleaner in there (it can work wonders), or just replace with matching value pots.
blackfbiv Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Aye there's the rub... no markings on the pots...which bothers me for some reason...maybe i should dump it...offers? heheheDion
