bluefish Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Hello and greetings, i have bought a cream steve stevens from usa and it is currently with my friend in LA, does anyone know wether the jack input (its a barrel type) is a mono one or stereo?? i have another steve stevens in old blighty but the barrel has long since been replaced so i cant even look at my current one to tell. Reason being id like to add an EMG 85 to it and it requires a stereo jack.cheers n beersthe bluefish
frank_c Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 my SS1 had EMG's when i bought it, and i'm pretty sure it had a stereo jack.
bluefish Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 Hi Frank C, thanks for that, yeah if it had an emg (active) it would have had a stereo jack insert, but this steve stevens is from 85/6 and i cant remember if mine had one, i had to do some woodwork on it to fit a regular one once my jack gave up the ghost.ill keep trying, my problem is im in UK and the guitar is in LA our tour starts in August and id really love to get it fitted prior to the tour, failing that the slammer pick-ups are still really good......im just a fussy git ha hacheersbluefish
hikarateboy Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 While it is true that any guitar with EMGs will need a stereo jack I doubt very much that a stereo jack came in it stock. My 85 does not so thats what I am going on. Obviously I cant vouch for yours other than to say if it is has the slammer pickups which were a dimarzio for Hamer it probably doesnt. Best of luck with it.
black magic Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Good choice on the EMG 85 for the bridge. They actually have more output and low/mids than the 81. Jack.
