Punkavenger Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Howdy!Ya know I was just thinking.. I have this really beautiful 93 Archtop Goldtop purchased from Peter Fung.He rated it a 9 out of 10. BTMN commented on how beautiful the gold finish was on this particular guitarIt plays and sounds fantastic ... crowned and bound, The whole nine yardsI realize that goldtops are a famous Gibson thang that goes back at least 50 years and that these archtop goldtops have a very good reputationStillThe "Goldtop" is just not my style... I want it to be black or a darker colorI was (and probaly still am) just going to send it to Stike and have him paint the top black or maybe a dark sunburst finishBut it seems a shame to alter this beautiful topIf anyone has a similar archtop guitar in BLACK, (I know they made them in black and even better some had humbuckers)in 9/10 condition that wants to TRADE straight across (I figure this baby is worth AT LEAST $900.00, it's one of the nicest goldtops around) I won't have to ship this beauty all across the country to Stike and you would have saved a piece of Hamer HistoryI've also recently become interested in SHREDDERS, and I've also always wanted a USA MAHOGANY STANDARD (that could be in player cond.)So really ... ANTHING IS POSSIBLE, it just has to be really REALLY COOL to trade as this guitar is a keeperLet me know
Punkavenger Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 see post on this page ... "anyone have a archtop goldtop for sale etc etc" for other pics and history you might notice I've added graphtech saddles, knurled knobs and P-90 sized humbuckers custom made by Pete Biltoft I have another $250 in this guitar + the original $900.00 purchase price I also have the original P90's but I think these 'buckers sound much better it would be easy to return this guitar to stock if you so desire I have the original knobs and P90's sitting right here... The GT was NOT ROUTED for humbuckers ... the humbuckers are P90 size Thanks!
