savethematches Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Caught the St. Louis stop of the Vai tour last night. Incredible show. Eric Sardinas is an absolute monster! Killer chops and quite a showman. He'd be much better if he hired a real singer though.Vai's show was impressive, but a little "out-there" for me. Undeniable chops and musicianship. The entire band was killer--all those dudes can flat out rip it up. My right ear was closer to the speaker array and is beyond the point of ringing. It's just very very muffled. My left ear is working, but not very well. I guess I should've heeded the warning on the front door and bought some ear protection. I wonder how long it'll take to get my hearing back.
ET_KenW Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 And I came out of Saturday night basically unscathed. I think MCChris has competition. LOLAs long as you enjoyed the show, hearing the kids yell at you today is all secondary. LOL
silentman Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 I won't go to any show sans ear plugs including my own gigs. In fact we use a Vdrum set at practices and it cuts volume down significantly. That being said, I attended a show a few weeks ago. We got there too late for Sardinas (I was bummed). But Vai never ceases to amaze. I couldn't believe how many people were there. But we were right near Berkley so that had a lot to do with it.
