Any Opinions On Tech 21 Landmark 300 or 600 Amps

I'm curious about these amps, have any of you bass players tried or owned on of these amps? I'm itching for a new bass amp and I'm not sure which way to go yet. ANd for Hamer content I'll be playing my 4 string set neck chap through it.

Thanks

I haven't heard anything from a source that I'd trust, so I'm kind of curious about this. For the record, I tried out one of those new Behringer 300W bass heads at GC last weekend and I was astounded at how good it sounded through Behringer 4 X 10" and 1 X 15" cabinets. Street price on the head is $200. Normally, I wouldn't even think about something like that but it really sounded great, warm and punchy, with a variety of active and passive basses. It was reviewed in the recent Bass Player with Marcus Miller on the cover and they liked it both soundwise and constructionwise.

The Landmark 600 sounds like the perfect bass amp for what I like to play, but WAAAYYY too much wattage for my applications. I play mostly rock (lotsa pick) bass and the descriptions seemed to work. Have yet to find one to demo though.

Is the 300 just a 1/2 power model of the same head? I hadn't seen that one yet.

I have a Tech 21 4X10 cab that was made for that head and it suits me fine.

The way I took what I read on tech 21's website is that the 300 and the 600 are the same with the exception of the wattage. I did read some glowing reviews on Harmony Central, and talkbass.com. But when I did a search on talkbass I found some less than steller things.

My problem is that I never know when to trust those reviews, I'd much rather hear from some one here who has owned or at least tried one.

I feel the exact same way. I'd hate to dump that coin into a rig that you can't research enough. I don't know anyone who has one, so I'll stick to my Trace rig-that does the job for me.

I really don't need that much wattage either but, if they're reasonably priced, I'd consider it. HC reviews are often posted when somebody gets something new and exciting and is still in the honeymoon stage. I'd trust talkbass more than HC for reviews. No offense intended, but HC is populated by teenagers who are more worried about whether their jeans and pickguard match than whether a product is good.
