mirrorimij Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I would like Wordupperman to respond to my last quote. Perhaps he can also state his qualifications since he seems to have "inside" knowledge.I would like Wordupperman to respond to my last quote. Matt Mattson Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 which Les Paul tone ?Exactly. To get the real Les Paul tone you must listen through mid-60's to mid-70's automobile speakers. The more vibration and hum in the speakers, the more realistic the tone.
Wordupperman Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Where is that smiley that is banging his head against a wall???????I think it's over at the LP forum..."Q: Which Burstbucker will make me sound just like the solo on crossroads?A: The Hausselhoff-Rio-Grande-Latte-extra-wind-no-whip-double-cream-add-shots, by WRXTone Labs, of course!... just tell 'em "BRC Ed" sent ya!WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN BY THAT???Whoah! Step away from the espresso machine...I will translate for you if humor isn't your native language. You referenced the "smiley" emoticon banging its head against a wall. I responded that I thought you could find it over at the LP forum, as those fine chaps seem to always be going on and on about the same old questions, like which pickup sounds the most like Clapton or some such stuff. I illustrated my humorous reference to that BBS with a fictitious thread that I made up about the subject. Get it now?As far as my qualifications go, well this is the internet, I don't need no stinkin' qualifications. but as long as you asked (twice):Well... I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen the EXORCIST ABOUT A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT... NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY... NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK?!? You think I'm qualified?"
Matt Mattson Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 You think I'm qualified?"Not on this board. Not until you can recite every line in "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly" without cues.
Guest Meshuggah Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Gentlemen. Please. Think of the kittens.Buy a Washburn. No Hamer for you!
Matt Mattson Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I had the weirdest dream last night. I was on the Hamer forum, talking about Les Pauls when a dogfight erupted and I was mauled by cats. The one and only genuine Les Paul tone is at the end of this brief film:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMombOQhUNAListen closely.
mirrorimij Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Well... I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively.Sorry but I'm calling bullshit on all of the above.

This is the tone: Begins at the beginning about 3 seconds from the beginning opening shot. Wordupperman Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Sorry people, that sort of thing was just the reason that no one at Hamer will have anything to do with this board...Because my attempts at humor are not being appreciated, I will return to my droll posts about factual matters regarding Hamer, and the occasional (non controversial) opinion of such. The Qualifications Scene So, Mr. Imij... Did it sound like a Les Paul? What amp did you use to test it? But more importantly, what boutique pickups were in it? Do you have permission to speak about it at all? Did you sign any terms of employment or non disclosure papers while working there?
Guest Meshuggah Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Sorry people, that sort of thing was just the reason that no one at Hamer will have anything to do with this board...And all this time I tought is was my bad breath. Whew!. Thanks.Because my attempts at humor are not being appreciated, I will return to my droll posts about factual matters regarding Hamer, and the occasional (non controversial) opinion of such. Nooooooooo! Humer gud. Please. Don't. Stop....oh!The Qualifications Scene Harvey Mandel's greatest performance!
Armitage Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 The 500k tone pots and .01 cap Hamer uses will make a guitar a fair bit brighter then the 300k pot and .022 used on more recent Les Pauls (they used to use 500k pots). Try changing the cap, before you change guitars.
