  1. And horrifically screwed on
  2. Coil cables are very capacitive and kill top end... and they tug at everything as you move. So if you like a loss of high end and having your pedals follow your feet like puppies, go for it.
  3. So this guy offers me 1/4 my asking price on a guitar I'm selling. I just replied "you're crazy." A week later, he does it again. So I tell him "ok, but only if you meet me by the big sign at the 1234 Main St. parking lot..." I wonder how long he sat there outside the psychiatric hospital before he looked up...
  4. So what's a Standard Custom going for these days?
  5. People who have no interest always say it's too much... so do potential buyers.
  6. You don't need to flick the switches if you don't want to... but when the guitarist steps on a pedal and you need to get louder... it's there... if you get lost in a dark room you can do something about it.
  7. There is an active varitone that works much better than a passive one, (and without the big volume drop), it's got a basic preamp too. The three mini switches in line allow each pickup to be in series, or parallel, as well as out of phase with each other. All useful sounds.
  8. I've had this Eagle Bass since the early '80s
  9. Some may have simply sold their Hamer and moved on...
  10. Duncan Antiquities... Gibson Historic plastics, Ghoto relic'd bridge and tailpiece (added after photo)... done and happy.
  11. The EVH D-tuna came chrome... it looked like his pants were unzipped Changed it to black... much better. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it worked.
  12. I just realized KiSS have my Chinese name stenciled on loads of stuff... that's nice of them.
  13. Enjoy... as you can tell, I'm not the kind of guy who wants to learn Three Blind Mice type stuff.
  14. I've had my synth for a month or so... so I made a ring tone for my nephew... He loves horror movies et al D minor.m4a
  15. Just a reminder, if you've got pedals or guitars with active pickups or preamps in it, and you're not playing them for awhile, remove the batteries. Battery leakage can be heart breaking. Picture because some people can't seem to figure out what battery leakage is
  16. KiSS Winterland show 1975 Ace tapping at 24 minutes, long before Eddie
  17. I got an EVH 5150III 2x12 a while ago... year or two maybe... i tugged it up to the second floor... and after a short time I tired of it. It just wasn't happening. I had an SG Standard that was nice and light... i always liked it's tone... tried different pedals just to play with... pulled out the crappy JJ preamp tubes... but nah. I kind of stopped playing again. I tugged an old '95 Peavey 5150 2x12 up to the first floor a week or so back, with a Standard Custom. The magic is there. Tone... liquid joy... I ended up taking the Hamer up to the EVH to try... it sounded killer. The EVH just hates that SG that always sounded good in other amps... hates it. I still think the Peavey sounds better... funny, people complain about it's weight at 84lbs, 12lbs less the a 4x12, but no one complains about the EVH 2x12, that also weighs 84lbs.
  18. Fathers... got a Son? Get on the floor once and a while and play with him a bit. Take him out and throw a ball, hit a puck or toss a hoop. At least know something about his friends, interests and favorite TV shows, they're important to him. Tell him what you do for a living, and why. Be nice to his friends, they'll talk about you, and compare dads, whether he's 6, 16 or 26. If you're into golf, poker, boating or sports, get him involved, at least show him why you like it. The same with any groups or associations you belong to. Take a weekend to go camping or fishing with him, or even just maybe a movie or car show. Take him out to the park or for a walk and talk about life, cars, girls and how to be a good boss or employee. Show him how to BBQ. Share his first beer or whiskey. Explain how to buy his first car, house and about mortgages. Let him know what you've learned about relationships, debt and how to have a successful marriage... Every Fathers Day I think of my dad... for just 5 seconds... and go, where were you?
  19. I got up to 130... now I'm down to 70... it's more how the guitar inspires you then the difference in tone IMHO. Once you have a guitar for clean, dirty and high gain... anything else in the middle is moot.
  20. I always get a kick when people remake a cool song in totally unexpected ways.
  21. Nothing makes you feel older then your music, turned to Musak.
  22. I still think a backwards ML (with the knobs and jacks in the correct right hand spot) would be cool.
  23. My neighbors listen to heavy metal late into the night... whether they like it or not...
  24. Very sorry to hear this...
