Hamer Studio wraparound-how's it affect tone?

Does the fact that it's a wraparound make it sound different than a stoptail model? Mine's very bright-thinking of changing out the JB in the bridge but even the '59 in the neck's on the bright side-I turn the tone down to 6 even with the neck pu a lot of times. The Jb sounds kind of thin compared to the '59.

Before I start changing pickups, everyone talks about the Pigtail and Tonepro's wraparounds-does that really make a dramatic difference in fattening up the tone or is it pretty subtle? Are Studios just naturally bright?

That JB needs to go (they sound awful in any guitar) whatever you decide to do with the bridge.

Try a darker sounding pickup instead.

Let us know what tone you are going for, what music you normally play, what amps you are using etc,

and people here will probably give some great advice.

edit because its 09.00 am and I spell like my five months old son.

I play classic rock mostly-think Since I've Been Loving You, Ride On-Ac/Dc, Gov't Mule, Allman Bros, early Kiss, ZZ Top, etc. I use a Traynor Ycv40wr-looking to find a Marshall half stack but I'm keeping the Traynor too.

I'm looking for a good Les Paul type bark similar to what my '80 LP bridge p/u sounds like-it's stock but I don't know what pu it is. It's 12 lbs and the Hamers 7-8 lbs so I know they'll sound different, just want something in the ballpark.

Right now I'm leaning toward a '57 plus.

I had a 96 wraparound studio. SOunded spectacular with Rio BBQ/ Gen TX pups

I can see that working well. Although I have a '95 Studio wrapper and I don't have any brightness issues with it whatsoever, to the point where I finally pulled the PUPs to confirm that they were in fact a JB and a '59. Maybe it's the covers?
