BubbaVO Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I've run across those on occassion, can anyone give me a quick review - positives, negatives, are there any other products that do what they do but better/cheaper?
Craig S Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I've had both.. and still have a Bottle Rocket. The Bottle Rocket is much more open sounding to me than the V-Twin.. Should be I guess because it's an overdrive and the other is a pre-amp. Lot's of bass in the Bottle Rocket and it works good with some amps and not so good with others. I've found it usefull as a clean boost (gain down, level up) with most everything. This is actualy were it shines best although not as clean as a tube Screamer. I use it with my Twin Reverb and sometimes uit sound good sometimes it doesn't. My Tteefus modded C30 loves it hitting the front. I've always thought the V-Twin sounded kind of flat, no life.
phoenix Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Good value if you like the sounds. Mesa told me years ago that they discontinued them because cost to make them was about to exceed the selling price. The V-Twin is one of the most impressively built pedals I have ever seen. The bottle rocket is a boost and doesnt make the amp sound like a Mesa. The twin does.
