holLoWskull Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Well, an unfortunate need for a new well drilled has forced me into the crappy situation of having to sell off two great guitars that can net me the most $$ quickly First off is a 1992 Special (P-90 version). Cherry trans finish, excellent plus to near mint condition. Only flaws are: (1) hameritis on both sides of the nut and SLIGHT hameritis starting on the side of the fretboard in a couple spots, (2) some light pitting on the chrome bridge and stop piece as well as faint marks left in stop piece from "wrap around" string installation (yes, I was the nit-wit who did that one, I tried stringing it like that once to see if it made a difference in tone and playability)...oh well, and (3) a faint impression in the clearcoat on the front edge (won't show up in a picture and not even a break in the clear...more of a small impression in the clear). Comes with Hamer hardshell case in very good to excellent minus condition (a few small rips and dings in the tolex..tarnishing of the straps, etc.) but still in good shape to house the super clean guitar inside it. Players: set up for slide in open D tuning, .011 guage Elixer strings, action a bit lower than most slide players probably would prefer, but I like it, SUPER light weight (approx. 7 lbs. on a bathroom scale), very resonant...will ring out very long and has a nice unplugged tone (as well as plugged in!), FANTASTIC fret condition...almost like new (really!), early 90's Hamer skinny neck profile. Collectors: very clean overall condition, totally original except strings (numbers on pots match up, etc.), nice grain in the mahogany, would be right at home in a nice Hamer or guitar in general collection. Price: $600 shipped and insured to a CONUS address Now, the one that hurts a bit more a 1989 Chaparral Standard w/ sustainiac in a beautiful shade of Sea Foam Green. I am a devote fan of this color and have owned 4 Hamers in this color (this is the nicest example of the color of all of them IMHO). Condition is excellent to excellent plus (close to near mint but a couple too many imperfections to be near mint IMHO). Comes with OHSC in excellent plus to near mint condition (very nice!!), Sustainiac information brochure and Ultimate Hamer card (not sure of the name of the card). Has original Hamer tool on back of neck for Floyd adjustments and is set up flawlessly with .009 Elixer strings. I'm looking at this guitar and regretting having to do this, but anyway, gotta do what you gotta do. Players: Super low action, plays great with no dead spots, frets have some very minor wear (and I mean minor, less then 1/16" depth) all over neck...not just "cowboy chord" area (definitely seen some bedroom shredding). Original Hamer "Slammer" (wound by DiMarzio for Hamer) pickups, Sustainiac feature is cool! Players will love the playability of this one and the Sustainiac. Slender side of medium neck profile (not skinny like the Special above IMHO) Collectors: Exceptional example of Hamer's take on sea foam green and 99.5% lacquer checking free (I have never owned a nitro finish that has held up this well!). Super clean and original example...only flaws are (1) small chip in clear behind the floyd on guitar face, (2) slight "worming" in clear on back of guitar, (3) small area of paint chipped off by trem spring cavity, (4) crack in plastic "door" of battery compartment (in plastic only), and (5) the aforementioned fret wear (virtually nothing, but for a collector piece, may be an issue?). These are very minor flaws and I believe any collector would be still be very happy with this Hamer! Price: $575 shipped an insured to a CONUS address. I am putting these two guitars up for the weekend here before ebay. No trades as I need money fast and hopefully can get enough with these two without having to sell off anything else. Overseas HFC'ers, although I'm not sure about wanting to do an international deal, if you're interested e-mail me and if no other US HFC'ers are interested, I most likely MAY decide to sell to an HFC member before having to resort to ebay (it will be a US only sale if they hit ebay, no exceptions!). It's nothing against overseas HFC'ers, I've just never done an international deal and am a bit apprehensive and ignorant as to what all is entailed. Anyway, e-mail me and sincere offers will get first refusal. Paypal, USPS money order accepted as payment.
