tomjoyce Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 I am a huge Schenker fanatic (ran an MSG/UFO site, "lovelostlove.com", for years) and I bought this a few weeks ago. It plays well and I like playing it, but I just can't see myself playing this one out at my age. For someone with a little more flash than me, it's a killer look. Sure sounds like classic Schenker, though, I'll say that. I don't know how to post images, so here's a link:http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/joyce_tom/al...m/ph//my_photosGuitar is in new condition, with plastic still on the back, all paperwork, etc. This is the Korean made mahogany set neck version with Grover tuners and the USA-made Michael Schenker pickups, the same pickups that go into the more expensive USA made guitar. It has a list price of $1374.99, and I paid $799 for it. This is NOT the cheap Chinese made version (the "Standard") with the alder body and bolt-on neck. It has been professionally set up and is ready to play.The guy who set it up works for Dean in quality control and is a friend of mine from a Schenker list. According to him, only the first 50 of the Korean model are gfoing to come with the high-end custom wound pickups that Dean had made (by Dimarzio) for the high end Schenker guitars. They apparently changed manufacturers and the rest of them are going to come with lower-end pickups that will have "Michael Schenker" printed on them, but are not the real Dimarzios. Frankly the whole point of this model for me was to get the a schenker dean with the custom pups for under a grand, because I wasn't going to pay well over $2K for the USA version (or any other dean for that matter). So, if you want the real deal, you have to get one of the first 50, and this is one of them. Additional features include Grover tuners, black binding on body and neck, dean hardshell case. I am open to a straight trade, but no more pointy guitars and no Hamer imports, thanks.
