Brownsound Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 you get it back from a tech. I took my Gibson GA-15RV amp to a tech to have the tube sockets replaced with porcelain ones. There was going to be a wait for parts so he said I could take it home and use it until the new sockets came in. I fired her up and... no sound..fiddled with the knobs...nothing...turned it off and immediately took the grill off the back only to find to my horror the speaker leads were off!!! Put the leads back on and fired it up again. Amp seems to work afterwards but Im not sure if I should have it checked out.
tafkathundernotes Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 If it sounds OK, you're probably all right. Running without a speaker can cause damage to the output transformer, but that's not a high powered amp. If it was quick, then I don't think you hurt anything.
