Telephono Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I have a 1996 Hamer T-51 and want to change from a tortoise pickguard to a black one. Fender pickguards don't quite fit because of the Wilkinson bridge used on the T-51. Used or NOS would work. Thanks

mhmike Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I need a new one too. I'll probably get mint.T-51s had two different neck pocket sizes? What does that mean? 1/2' and 1/4"? I'm a bolt-on moron.

The 1/4", 1/2" dimension is the distance between the neck pocket and the neck pickup.

The 1/4", 1/2" dimension is the distance between the neck pocket and the neck pickup. They have no mints though! But I figured T-51's didn't come with anything other than white, black or tortoise stock anyway. Where is it measured from? Straight up from the square part of the pocket, then to the pickup? If so, that is at least an inch. Or from approx. where the pickguard meets the neck and pocket and cutaway, on the cutaway side - that is close to 1/2". Nothing on mine seems anything near 1/4", unless we're talking from the end of the fretboard to the pickup. This is all rather bizarre to me I had no idea Hamer made two different "lengths" of pockets/pickups. My SN is 436568, if that helps. A '94.

The dimension is from the closest part of the neck pocket to the closest part of the neck pickup. If you go to the Chandler Pickguard Heaven web site (I believe they originally made the T-51 and other pick guards) select "Hamer". You will see, when you check the T-51 pick guards, that they list the #8002 for a 1/4" neck pocket and the 80022 for the 1/2" neck pocket.
