morningstar Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I have a load of basic On Stage mic stands. They're not holding up well in daily use. The pressed-in (POS) thread base for mounting booms wears out and gets loose, and the threads wear out. The chokes give out regularly too. Wobbly, wobbly, wobbly. Not suited for everyday use; especially with some of the monkeys we get around here. The tripod are holding up OK, but that's little comfort.Does anybody know of a reasonably priced mic stand that has some durability?Thanksmorningstar

You need the DR stands also available at GC. I have a bunch, they're heavy steel....look cool.....and only 20 bucks more than the On Stage. A no-brainer!
geoff_hartwell Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 In my experience, the joint where it screws into the base always eventually breaks. Through the constant process of elimination (or extinction) I use this combo now: The threadless base (SUPER stable and reliable- not wobbly at ALL and very small footprint): http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/se...ategorySA-10001 and the ONE-KNOB-adjustable Ultimate telescoping boom arm. GREAT combo for about 50 bucks and lasts forever. Best of luck! GH
morningstar Posted August 2, 2009 Author Posted August 2, 2009 Thanks. I needed that. These on stage stands are toys, not tools.Happiesmorningstar
