Thunderface Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I have discovered a 2005 or 2006 Hamer Studio Classic in cherry sunburst from a dealer looking to move this never been sold axe at a reduced price of $1,695. It has the arched top and victory inlays that have caught my eye. And I'm wondering if this is a good deal or something I should be wary of. (I mean, who ever heard of a beautiful Hamer guitar going up to four years without being sold?)What do you think?
MCChris Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 (I mean, who ever heard of a beautiful Hamer guitar going up to four years without being sold?)Just about everyone here. It's not uncommon, and nothing to be suspicious of. Look at it as the guitar-buying public at large's loss and your gain.

(I mean, who ever heard of a beautiful Hamer guitar going up to four years without being sold?)What do you think?I think I've got a dead mint '01 Studio cherry sunburst with the anvil inlays (not victory) that I would sell for less than $1,695. Pics are in a different thread if you're interested. Great guitar-- but I already have an Archtop GT with P90s in it.
Thunderface Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 Dave,Now that's tempting, indeed. Everyone was right from what I read upon joining this forum that once you have one Hamer, you're destined to get more.
Jason01 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I don't know if they still have it but a local dealer near doodys house had an NOS flame maple standard for that same money.

What do you think? For a new guitar, that's a "fair" price. That means, however, that you will loose quite some money when you finally try to unload it.
Thunderface Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 Jorge, that's what I was thinking, too. Thanks for seconding that thought.Jason, do you know the name of that dealer with the NOS Standard?
Jason01 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Here's the original thread, not sure if its still there or not but can't hurt to give it a shot I figure. It was there for a while when the thread was posted so might still be there. http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21557
Thunderface Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 Thanks. I'll check it out and report back with what I find out. But I may be out of the buying game for a bit. On my other guitar forum I just picked up a '75 Ovation Viper in sunburst for $450.

Wonder if they've gone out of business.

Thunderface Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 I know, but a guy can dream, can't he? Possibly finding a treasure trove of closeout Hamers?
Jason01 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I talked to doody, apparently the place went belly up. Sorry for getting your hopes up.
Thunderface Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 I knew it was a shot in the dark, but you never know what you can find out if you ask questions or at least try. Too bad they didn't make it.
Jason01 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 The place always had shitty customer service. They ran a cell phone business out of the same place and always seemed inconvenienced to go over to the other side and answer guitar questions. Most of the time they'd just tell you that the guitar guy wasn't in (meaning go away and quit bothering us). I'm suprised the place lasted as long as it did but they really did have some good deals on guitars.
