I hear wunderful things about Traynor's YCV50..the next evolution in their combo line..(did i just say evolution?-lol)Anyways..different tube compliment and a master volume...supposed to be the cat's meow.FWIW - consider the source!!!(me-hahaha)Dion
Jimbilly Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I'm playing bass mostly now at church, but my Tech 21 t-60 is a great church amp, and my main guitar amp. The DI is super handy, the low level distortion is very good too. I always put mine on a little angled amp-stand and it works great. My guitar player friends like it's sound, and are willing to overlook the fact that it's solid state. IMO, it's really the only SS amp worth trying. The other upside is that it's dead quiet, and when the pastor comes up to speak, there's no hum for the sound guy to turn off, -and then forget to turn you up again! Our guitar player (good friend for a long time, and Hamer owner too) plays a tri-rec into a 2x12, he plays a bit loud too, but we're one of the more rockin' church bands around I think. His other rig is a '78 champ, and about 3 pedals. I tried one of those traynor 40s, it was very cool. You probably have stage volume concerns, so an amp stand will be a must. One kid who was playing with us for a couple weeks about a year ago had a Mesa RoadKing 1/2 stack, and actually complained that he couldn't hear himself (like it was the soundguys fault), I laughed at him while playing my 1x12 combo on a stand.
FunkyE9th Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Look into the Reverend Goblin. It's switchable between 15 and 5 watts. I have one and love it.-FunkyE9th
RRHamer Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Well I went and rented a Traynor YCV40WR. its not a Marshall but I actually like it alot and think I will get one. I think I will probably get the 20 watt instead of the 40 watt. Any one have any opinions on the 40 watt verses the 20 watt?
