WTB Alternative Jazzmaster PUPs

I have an AVRI Jazzmaster but I'm not sure I really like the stock Fender pups. The bridge in particular, is kind'a shrill and "white" - I find it's hard to hear what you're actually playing, especially when things get loud. I'm wondering if there's a used set of Lollars, Novaks or even Fralins out there. I'm a little averse to Duncans, seeing that I've been tearing them out of most of my Hamers and I don't think I'm trying to make it sound "fatter", as it is improving the mid>highs... Thanks!

Agreed on not liking the stock Fenders in the AVRIs or MIJs. I had a Duncan Antiquity in the bridge of my '65 JM that was quite good. I put it in there until I could get the original rewound. The original is back and sounds great, but I liked the Antiquity. Don't remember which one (they made two), but I sold the pickups to CMatthes for his JM. I've heard great things about the Novaks and Curt is great to deal with.

All true Jazzmaster sets (the AVRI ones are pretty decent) are going to have that crazy shrill bridge pickup sound.

Check out the offerings from Curtis Novak

this guy knows jazzmasters and basically specializes in making pickups for them. Not cheap but sooo worth it.

He'll wind you a bridge that sounds like a p90 or put a wide range humbucker in the JM cover, etc....lots of choices.
