Citrus Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Ok, so my brother gave me a Danelectro pro1 - basically neck joins body at the 12th fret - little to no upper accessCan I put on a longer neck ( say a Fender scale neck ) and paly in regular tuning??Does anyone know if a fender neck would fit a Danelectro ??Thanks
Steve Haynie Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 The bridge position is set for the scale length you have now. My guess is that you cannot change the scale by changing necks, but the Pro 1 has 19 frets and the Strat will have 22. That extra length of the neck may put the new neck in the right position. If you have time to experiment try putting the Fender neck in place, or at least next to the old neck if you do not take the current neck off. Measure from the centerline of the bridge to the 12th fret. If it is 12.75" (half of 25.5") you have a winner. If the Danelectro has that narrow tang on the body behind the neck you are going to have to look at the placement of the new screw holes for the neck. You do not want to put a screw into the truss rod.
