I owned a green board BJr for a while, had all of the standard BillM mods, as well as an audio taper MV pot and a Eminence Cannabis Rex. Had really nice tone, but it suffered from a rattle I could never quite track down, and so away it went. I am guessing the newer creme boards don't have the rattle problem. And the Cannabis Rex did a great job of taming any ice pick tones the amp had.

Make sure you get somebody who knows what they are doing since modding the board is the easy part, getting the damn thing out is the chore.

I have done a bunch of the BillM mods. I would suggest people stay with the basic mods and save your $$$. I have done speaker upgrades and one was a Cannabis Rex. The other were to G12m greenbacks The cream board Blues jrs didn't have some of the rattle issues, which was more of a cab design flaw. At least the ones I worked on didn't have a rattle issue.

You have to watch the Illinois electrolytic caps on some of those Fender boards. It seems there was a bad run a while back and I have had to swap out more than a few. The last one was a 2003 Vibroverb. Two caps were bulging and one was oozing. I now use F&T electrolytic caps in my builds and as replacements. My preference. YMMV.

Right on, thanks for the input guys. I have an early cream board and no rattle issues, at least not yet . I've read about the IC caps issues, but looked mine over and they seem ok, so i'm leaving them and doing basic cream board mod + the new heyboyer OT.

I'm gonna hold off on speaker swap until the mods are done, but the cannabis rex was in my top 2 choices after reading reviews from Bjr owners. If anyone has one for sale let me know. thx.
