A new set of matched Tung Sol 6V6GT went into the little Fender Super Champ XD amp less than 10 playing hours ago. One went microphonic, evidenced by a click as I brushed against the amp, then a loud squeal. A little gentle tapping identified the bad tube. The factory tubes went back into the amp and it works just fine.
So can I buy a single 6V6GT and use it with the good tube, or do both nearly-new tubes go in the trash? The boxes for the tubes have the specs on them for plate current (Ip) and gain (Gm).
Am I on the right track here? I hate to toss a virtually new tube.
