Guest Buck Dharma Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 What's the right cable to hook up an old champ head to a cab with just the speaker connections? Do they make cables that go from a plug to a positive and negative connector. Or what's the best way to make one? Thanks for any ideas!
DavidE Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 You can get one pre-made for that purpose from www.webervst.com
mrhappy Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I think that champs used an RCA type connector for their speaker so you'd probably need RCA male to 1/4" male(or whatever your cab connection is).
Guest Buck Dharma Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Thanks guys! This isn't a Fender it is a Bogen amp made into a 5F2A Princeton circuit. I bought one of those Bluesboy pine cabs with a Weber 10" Alnico 10A100. It sounds great for home use but I need to get a nicer cable. Right now I have an old guitar cord that I cut one end off and crimped connectors on the ends of the wires to connect to the speaker. It works fine but I'm afraid I might short something out.

Solder them bad boys to the speaker but...it's ok how it is if the terminals are the right size, when they of the right size they will "lock" into place of sorts...

I guess I will go get a jack to connect speaker cable to till I get one from Weber. Thanks for the help!

If you did the same physical modifications to a speaker cable that you did to the guitar cord, it'd work fine. But the problem is, a guitar cable is like a stereo interconnect -- it's designed for low-level, high-impedance signal transfer. A speaker is designed for high current, high-level, low impedance signal transfer.
