miragejake Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 '98 Rake Reverb Head w/ Matching 2x12 Cab w/ a Tone Tubby Alnico Hempcone & Celestion G1285 For Sale or Possibly for Trade. This is a Rivera Rake Reverb head that was built in 1998. It is a 55 watt all tube head. This amp features channel switching via pull-pot switches on the front panel or via footswitch (included). There are two distinct channels (Channel 1 is 'Marshall' voiced and Channel 2 is 'Fender' voiced) - each with its own volume, tone stack (bass, mid, treble,), switchable boost (via pull-pot or footswitch), and master volume. Channel 2 also has a mid frequency shift switch (pull-pot switches). There is a Presence control that affects both channels. On the back panel there is a Modern/Vintage switch that changes the output tube operation between pentode (full power, 55w) and triode (30-35w -warmer, smoother, enhanced even order harmonics). There is also a line out jack, an output impedance switch (4,8,16 ohm), two speaker out jacks, and an active series effects loop with send and receive level controls. This is a feature rich amplifier offering a great deal of flexibility and plenty of clean headroom. Power Tubes are Svetlana EL34's, the preamp tubes are a mix of Russian's tubes. Matching 2x12 cab w/ a Tone Tubby Hempcone Alnico ($300 speaker) and a Celestion G12-85...really nice combination. The Cab is convertible...can be open or closed back. Sounds just huge closed back...which is the way I prefer it. This is a truly great rig...it's just way too big for my needs these days...I'm trying to scale everything down in size as I've recently lost my guitar room to a new baby girl Comes w/ the Rivera FS7 footswitch...you could definitely show up at a gig w/ just head, cab, and footswitch...and not have a need for pedals. But it really takes pedals like a champ...especially considering it has a very usable effects loop. A Rake Non Reverb head which wasn't as nice as this one just sold for $750 on ebay yesterday...I'd value this head at $900 plus shipping considering the shape of it and the fact that it has reverb and the FS7 footswitch. $930 shipped. I'd value the Cab at $400. The Tone Tubby alone is worth about $200 used...the G12-85 is a nice speaker too, and the cab is built for war. You'll see one little tiny corner broken off the plastic grommet on top of the cab...other than than it's basically mint as is the head. No tolex tears, no gauges anywhere to speak of...this is pretty damn pristine. $445 shipped. I love Rivera's...actually did a deal to get this where I gave up a Fuchs ODS50 head/cab Sorry...just wasn't my thing. To me Rivera got it right...Fender channel and Marshall channel w/ nice reverb and effects loop including a half power switch...what else do you want out of an amp See above for individual prices...$1295 shipped for a package deal, and no I'm not looking to negotiate. You pay paypal fees or do paypal gift or USPS MO. SHIPPING WON'T BE CHEAP! But I know how to ship amps...shipped the Fuchs head and cab to get this, plus many others...Done lots of deals here on TGP, feel free to contact folks in my sig. I live in Augusta, GA and get to Atlanta often...I'd be willing to drive a couple hours for a cash deal in person. TRADES: Yes, definitely will consider trades for other amps either 1x12 or 2x12 combo's or a Head w/ a 1x12 cab...Other than losing my guitar room, I have another space constriction...I drive a small pickup w/ a tiny cab and it's difficult to transport this rig along w/ a massive pedalboard and two guitars in my truck. Anyway BACK TO TRADES: Rivera Combo's--the good ones only Fandango or Quiana, Goodsell, Vintage Fender's: Super, Vibrolux, Pro Reverb, etc, Gries, Victoria, Fargen, Matchless, Tophat, Brown Note, etc...will consider other similarly built amps. Could add a significant amount of cash to the right amp trade deal...to get the right high end smaller combo. I might even trade the head only for the right guitar: Hamer Newport or Monaco, Yamaha or Ibanez 335 types, Gadow's, Nash, K-Line, Melancon, Heritage guitars, etc....I could add a little cash or a boutique pedal to the right deal.
tomteriffic Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Gratuitous bump for an exquisite amp.If I hadn't just gotten it's descendant in combo form, well.....
miragejake Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 yup, it's a stupid good amp...I've just got no room in my house anymore and need something a bit smaller.
cptncvmn Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 (just sent this same message in a PM. Please forgive if you get twice)Hey Jake,I hope this finds you doing well. With that said, I just joined Hamer in the hopes you'd be able to answer a question for me. I was curious if you ended up selling the Rivera Rake Reverb or if by chance you still have it. I just used one in studio to cut a large portion of our album. I really love that amp and trying to track one down. Given they're a little older, it's tough to find one in tip top shape. If you could, please let me know the status of the amp, and if you ended up selling it, curious if you know what that person is doing with it? I very much appreciate your time. Hopefully talk to you soon. Regards,Ash KernenLovecartelPhiladelphia, PAwww.lovecartelmusic.comNew video single: https://vimeo.com/56678337
