Phantom (Prototype) reissue

Question

Hi guys,

I recently bought (and have yet to recieve) a 97ish Hamer Prototype reissue.

Does anyone know what Duncans were used for factory pickups?

Is the Tuneomatic hardware metric or imperial?

I believe that the single coil on the reissues are regualr strat pickups versus the '80s versions that had a humbucker bobbin made into a single coil....

Originals were a Humbucker and a Singlecoil in one ring. The Reissues were called Phantoms and came with a JB and i'm not sure what the Single was. The rest i'll have to leave up to someone else. Great Guitars and a real bargin usually too.

Is it a standard JB?

I used to own a '80s prototype and liked it....

I hope to like this one.

Yep. Nothing special abou it. The necks going to be a little fuller. I have owned 2, 80's Prototypes and 1 Phantom Custom from the 90's. The Custom to me was a completely different guitar. A great guitar just different. I think some of that was the Maple and some of it was the lack of a Sustainblock.

To me many of the '80s hamers had necks that were too skinny.

I know this is sacrilege to many.....

Thanks for the info.

I'm with you on the Necks. Too skinny for me as well. I think you'll like what your getting then. Be sure to post pictures when you get it.

I will.

BTW I like the old Hamer Slammer pickups.

What dimarzio are they?

They were wound to hamer spec's. I have 2 of them and the early ones are a Hot PAF and the Later ones are very hot and phat. Very Tone Zone'ish.
