Windows XP experts - need hostname help

Bought a PC from a reseller. Came with fresh XP install, with hostname of OPERATOR-7B7704

I utilized control panel, and changed to OFFICE.

The problem is with Seagate backup software. It backs up some directories as OPERATOR-7B7704, then some as OFFICE... almost as if the PC has 2 host names. I've removed all images on the seagate backup drive, and started over. Same thing happens.

any idea how to rid the PC of the name OPERATOR-7B7704 ?

conflict with login admin (more than one) and past user logins?

Search the register for OPERATOR-7B7704. It might give you a direction.

It might have a configuration for a second network that's still running the operator name. So, check the network configurations as well.
