Jones Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I saw Green Day in St. Paul last Friday night. Terrific show - best in a long, long time. For those of you who have not seen the show, they do this schtick in the middle of the show where they "build" a rock band from the crowd. They start with the drums - the kid they choose comes up and does a great job. Next up, they kid that they pull up to play bass does a great job. Crowd loves him, and he's jumping all around, getting into it. Finally pull up a 10 year old kid to play the guitar - obviously having never played before. Huge laughs and they finish the song. Bass kid - in a fit of punk rock abandon - pulls the bass over his head and proceeds to smash it repeatedly against the stage. Just destroys it. 4 security guys jump him and pull him off stage. Band is obviously rattled.Billie Joe gives the 10 year old the guitar and tells him "Don't be an idiot and f'in smash it."
darc Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 That's hysterical! So were any of these kids planted in the audience, or did they just happen to randomly happen to pick someone who could play the drums? Hell, I've known drummers who can't play the drums.
