I've had a pair of these for over three years now and spent twice as much as the current asking price. Originally designed and priced to compete at $2500/pair, Klipsch bought Mirage and is closing out their high end floorstanders through Vanns.com. Their closeout price on these speakers is usually $1200/pair, sometimes dropping to $1K/pair, but right now are down to a little under $900/pair here, available in gloss black or rosewood, free shipping and 15-day return period (I'm pretty sure).
These speakers once broken in (100 hours to start, continue to improve for around 1,000 hours) are capable of surprising resolution. They energize a room like live musicians do. The omnidirectional pattern makes your whole listening area a sweet spot. They are amp-friendly, but are high-rez enough to show any improvements you make in upstream electronics or cabling.
At $899.76/pair? Highly, highly recommended.
They're fairly petite--9"x12" footprint, about 42" tall. Should be out a couple feet from the wall behind. These are extremely natural sounding speakers for a wide variety of music and are very easy to live with. I've lived with mine for 3-1/2 years and have no intention of changing. I listen to large scale orchestral classical, classic rock, electro-acoustic pop, small combo and big band jazz, and the great vocalists--Sinatra, Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Hartman, etc. These sound right on all of those and more.
