Wah-related question

I got an Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah. It's great, very adjustable and all, but I'm having a problem:

When I kick the wah in, there's a noticeable "jump" in my sound, as if suddenly I had more gain, or as if the Q-factor started from other value than zero.

However, I would like it to go smoothly from no alteration to my sound, to an open "AH" -"...wooaaaAAH". I'm already getting the last part, but still having trouble with the entry.

How can I adjust it to achieve this? Does anyone here have an idea?

TIA

How high do you have the volume? Let me check my settings real quick...Level-2 oclock, Q-1 oclock, lo-noon. range-normal, Auto switch-on, Range fine tuning-dimed, auto off delay, 11 oclock, and the two fine micro tuners underneath dimed...

I know what you're talking about. I have mine set slightly louder anyway because it's always for a lead tone or to standout a little. It's not the smoothest transition, but I'm ok with it. I guess the good thing is that you have a choice on how it engages.

Well, I've been playing with the settings and have had zero success so far. Still getting that nasty "swosh" when it kicks in, which makes it useful only to accentuate picked-started bends or palm-muted funky riffs. Guess I'll have to open the backplate and play with the internal pots. Have anyone any info about those?

BTW, I like a lot the way this wah sounds + the springs on the pedal + the auto-engage feature. A shame that it causes that "sound jump" when engaged. If I fix that, it will be the most perfect wah ever -for my tastes, of course.

Yes, they are under a sticker, on the back plate, no need to remove back plate. Turn them both to 10

Do you mean 10 o'clock or cranked to the max? Thanx!

Dime them both, all the way up, full on, balls out, to 11...wait, yes all the way up.

Tried your formula. It did make a noticeable improvement, but it's not 100% the cure. Also extended a little the "auto off delay", thus I can fully rock the pedal without the constant "whosh" --and if I ever get it, it's not that problematic as it used to be, thanks to your advice. In short, now I'm (almost) happy. Thanx again!

It's really a great wah if you can take the time to tweak it, I know, it's foreign to have to tweak a wah, but it gets some really cool sounds.
