ib2010 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 How do they compare. The Hamer "appears" to be slitely more compact ???? thanks, s
Jem Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Well i've just put a Firebird template (from guitartemplates.com) up against both my FBII's and they're within a whisker of each other. The only obvious diffrence is the Hamer's have a slightly wider lower bout and the top one's more like a Tele or LP when put against the Gibson which tapers off slightly earlier. Otherwise in overall length and width and the relationship of the size in where things go in and out they're damn near identical.I have wondered this a few times (thanks for giving me the motivation to actully look and compare) and after this i wonder if it's the bloody great headstock on the original that gives it the impression of being that bit bigger than the FBII's ?
ib2010 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 Cool, thanks for the info. It might be the "top horn" diff that was twisting my visuals. I've got a 91 gibby, and have had a deep admiration of the "custom build" thats offered up currently on the forum. Just can't swing the big lumber ness. to make it happen. thanks again, s
Jem Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 .... both my FBII's.... Class m8! Well, you've got the SSI and Emma - two things i'd like to have
