Questions about Diablo

Question

Hi HFCers!

I'm new here and glad to have joined the board.

I'm wondering about USA Diablo;

I own a 1996 Korean Diablo II wich is the guitar i spent the most of my playing time on.The neck on this guitar is narrow and very thin so my short fingers are comfortable on it.

Are there USA Diablo's with such narrow/thin necks?

I'm aware about neck size variations on the USA models of that era, but does the Diablo II usually have thinner neck than the Diablo I ?

Thanks!

Hi there, welcome to the forum. I own a Diablo I in Aztec gold (bought new in 1993 & have had it ever since). Mine is a USA model with a thin neck, incredibly low action, plays like a dream and sounds superb. I own other Hamers but none sound like the Diablo. I think it's the Alder body, bolt-on maple neck combination with the Seymour Duncan's. The neck is the fastest of all the guitars I own.

I don't own a Diablo II so can't comment on their neck profile. You wont be disappointed with a USA model.

Happy hunting.

Thanks for your feedback,

It's just that i've read that some USA Diablo's neck are "chunky"

How are the bodies of USA diablos? in 1 piece or 2 pieces?

Anyway i'd prefer a Diablo I, the middle PU's are useless for me, and only bother me.

About hunting,it's not unsual to see Diablo's for sale, i have spoted few ones, but i also like to catch a Cali elite (those, were teasing me in guitar magazines back in the day)

The Diablo (93) and Diablo II (96) that I have both have beefier necks, not thin by any measurement, very similar to each other size and shape wise. (My Centaura has a thin neck.)

Alright, thank you,

I guess there is too much variations and nothing to do with MIK Hamers.

I'll need to ask the sellers the measurement.

I've got a '92 Diablo and the neck is not what I would characterize as chunky or beefy. It is very moderate D shape with leanings towards the thin side.

Interesting... My thin neck Centura is also a 92.

Interesting yes,

I've never owned a USA Diablo until now, but i've found out from my web browsing, that the design of the neck at the heel on my 96 MIK Daiblo II (wich i consider as a decent built instrument) is diferent from the design on the USA diablos.

Anyway the neck on this 96 MIK is so narrow and so thin that i guess most guitarists would dislike it, all my other guitar necks supposed to be thin, feel like a baseball bat compared to it
