Cruisebass (2nd gen) V string pickup question?

Does anyone know if the Seymour Duncan Basslines in the mid-90's 5-string Cruisebasses have a 9V preamp in them or not? The brochures I've got spec out active Basslines, but the 5-string 2Tek I had years ago was totally passive (the logos where worn off the pickups, so who knows if they were even Basslines).

I believe all the 2-TEK 5 strings were stock with active pickups (either Basslines or EMG.)

The 4 strings had the choice of passive Basslines, or active EMGs if I remember right--along with the choice of 2-TEK or Gotoh bridge.

(hard to believe my 2-TEK 4 string is 16 years old now... sheesh time flies! GREAT bass.)

I don't know.

Do active pickups require a battery? If so, the Cruise V 2Tec I had did not have active pickups - they were passive Duncans if I recall correctly. I was going nuts trying to find the battery cavity, when someone here told me that not all of them were active.
