Jack C Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I"m working on some tunes in my home pro tools setup and I want an out of town buddy to sing some songs. He has no recording gear except a mic and an old 4 track machine. He could always record to tape and I could get that into my system if need be, but I'd like to be able to avoid that if I can. Does anyone know of a good, simple digital solution? Is there a simple iPad app or something similar where he could create a wav file he could send me? I can handle reverb, compression and eq on my end with no problem. I just need a way to get a track from him that I can use.
alantig Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 There's Garage Band for the iPad. There's also Audacity for PC/Mac (free and pretty good), and Reaper has a good rep.
DarrenD Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 For PC, just get audacity or something similar - anything that can record the tracks raw will do. Then, transfer the files into whatever you want to edit (pro tools)Have him use a condensor mic, even if it's cheap. If not, have him use an SM57....or I guess whatever he has and then EQ the best you can.
