matchful Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Bad Cat Black Cat 30R - early 2000s Sampson era. Custom Red Sparkle. Used sparingly and sat in studio. Ships in original Bad Cat box from factory. This this is close to new as you can get. Always loved the Matchless / Vox sound and in my opinion sounds more balanced and less boomy than a DC30. $2200 plus actual shipping charges/you cover Paypal.

I was having a microphonic squeal on mine because I understand it is an inherent problem with EF86s. Doesn't sound like yours had any issues.

I got my Badcat somewhat by a fluke. I was visiting a local gear consignment shop in Kalamazoo, I bought a beat up HAMER firebird there a couple years ago. anyway...I walk in and there and there it is, with a $1600 price tag. I kinda played it off like I wasn't interested, told the guy to give me a call if the owner was willing to come down on the price. The next morning I get a call from the owner saying he desperately needed $$$....so I made him and offer and brought it home.

Only trade I would consider would be a 335 I have mint 1964 es330...same as 335 but 90s instead of buckers Third-party don't-have-a-horse-in-the-race point of information: also hollow rather than semi-hollow (as the 335). Love the sound. Eddie Roberts with The New Mastersounds has been playing one for the last several years. Phenomenal tone. Wow!! that is a great looking Badcat! Brent, try shrinking a piece of 1-1/4 dia. shrink tubing around the top half of the tube. I've never dealt with an EF86 but the guys on The Amp Garage swear by this method. Let me know if you can't find shrink tubing that big and I'll mail you a piece.
