Replacing foam in an amp road case?

file this under the "how hard can it be?" category:

I have a couple of amp road cases where the foam padding disintegrated over the years. The cases are pretty well-built, and I'm thinking of scraping out the remaining scraps of foam and replacing the foam with 2" rigid polyethylene on the bottom (to hold the weight of the amp) and 1" polyurethane foam for front/back/sides etc. Those are the thicknesses of foam that were originally installed. I was thinking of covering the foam with some kind of velvet-like cloth to prevent the foam from contacting the amp (one of the amps is a Mesa Mark 2B with the hardwood cab, and it was a pain to clean all the foam debris off the amp and cane grill). Looking at the materials (foam and adhesive) up on www.reliablehardware.com, it doesn't appear to be all that complicated. Mrs stonge gently reminded me that the last time I used those 'famous last words' was the moneypit known as 2FIG (lol), so I'm looking for any guidance from anybody who has actually done this - any advice or tricks that might help? How difficult is it?

Thanks, stonge

While the only thing in the world heavier than a Mesa Boogie Mark series is a Mark series in a road case, at least there are wheels on the cases so we can just roll them in (after we wrestle those bricks in and out of the basement/vehicles lol).
