what to pay for a B15N?

A guy is selling a project Ampeg b15n near me, I should be able to see it in a day or two, but he want's me to make an offer. He's pretty certain it's a '63, and I think he's right per the serial # he gave me, he says it blows fuses on startup, the tolex is a bit worn, no casters and the 'on' light is missing. What would be too much?, if it's blowing fuses, -at least it still has that capability. Prepal.com says they're selling for $480 which sounds low, and There's only one on ebay w/ a starting bid of $900. Nice ones are probably around $1k? A project in fair condition should be worth $200 or less? What do you all think?

i would say for $200 you should be able to get it running and still be in the ballpark of a fair price. i wouldn't pay much more without being able to do some more investigating. very clean examples go for close to $1k depending.

I see them all the time with blown power transformers (hey.. lets put in a bigger fuse) followed by shorted caps. Repro PT's are availble.. the new ampeg iron oes not have a rectifier tap.. mercury magnetics will put the correct repro PT in "your" tar filled square can to keep the vintage look..lamps are cheap rat shack items..
