Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 So is it really as easy as just checking to make sure the posts are the same distance, and then dropping it in?Is there any care that needs to be taken if you are switching from a 2-point Strat-ish style to a Floyd Rose style? If one of my goals is to switch from chrome to black, is it as easy as unscrewing the chrome posts and screwing in the black posts?
atquinn Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 In a sentence: No it's not exactly that simple, especially going from a strat-style to a Floyd.Give some specifics about the particular guitar you're working with and maybe we can give you some specific info.-Austin
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Well...It's a MIJ Dean Z Playmate. It has a two point non-locking trem, not like a wilkinson, tho. That's why I called it a strat-ish style 2-point.Just like this: http://p2.la-img.com/114/16714/5595805_3_l.jpg
Tres Aardvarks Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 IT's not as simple as you'd like. Go to Stew-Mac and compare tech drawings of the different bridges You're going to have to do some measurement, not just from post center to post center, but also the offset sideways (compared to center of bridge).
